Aladdin Sane is a 1973 (see 1973 in music) album by British glam rocker David Bowie. Widely regarded as one of Bowie's best, perhaps second only to The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1972, see 1972 in music), Aladdin Sane is an inaccessible album, filled with jazzy breaks and avant-garde dissonance.

"The Jean Genie" was intended as a sequel to Bowie's first hit, "Space Oddity"; "The Jean Genie" peaked at #71 on Billboard's (North America) Pop Singles chart, while Aladdin Sane hit #17 on the Pop Albums chart.
