Amok Time is an episode of Star Trek, centred upon Mr. Spock. It was first broadcast on August 15, 1967, and was written by Theodore Sturgeon, a science fiction author.

The show opens with Mr. Spock behaving oddly. At the request of Captain James T. Kirk, Dr Leonard McCoy performs and examination, and discovers he is seriously unwell. Spock explains that he is undergoing a time Vulcans know as pon farr, and must mate with his bethrothed, T'Pring, immediately. Disobeying orders and Spock, Kirk sets the Starship Enterprise towards Vulcan, where he and McCoy accompany Spock to the ceremony.

T'Pring causes a stir by announcing that she would rather marry another, Stonn. She invokes her right to have Spock fight for her, but chooses Kirk as the man he must defeat. Kirk agrees, and a ceremonial fight to the death occurs.

Spock is seen to kill Kirk, and then afterward renounce his claim on T'Pring, devastated that he has killed his friend. After McCoy and Spock beam up with Kirk's body, it is revealed that he was never really dead, but had been injected with a drug to simulate death by McCoy, under the cover of injecting Tri-Ox to compensate for Vulcan's thin atmosphere.
