Angel With A Lariat was k.d. lang's debut outside of Canada. Prior to this, she had released Truly Western Experience in Canada. Angel With a Lariat is a country recording, though very upbeat and of all her recordings, is the one most influenced by rock and rockabilly and possibly even new wave. Featured band is The Reclines k.d.'s usual backup band, and producer is rocker Dave Edmunds. The recording was issued in 1987 by Sire Records. It was recorded in London England in 1986, though k.d. was based in Vancouver Canada at the time.
