Aquia Harbour is an unincorporated place located in Stafford County, Virginia, 13 miles north of Fredericksburg. Recognized as a census designated place (CDP) by the U.S. Census Bureau, the community had a total population of 7,856 as of the 2000 census. Aquia Episcopal Church, erected in 1757 and now a National Historic Landmark, is located north of the community.

Geography

Aquia Harbour is located at 38°27'31" North, 77°23'3" West (38.458484, -77.384124)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 20.2 km² (7.8 mi²). 20.0 km² (7.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.39% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 7,856 people, 2,569 households, and 2,227 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 391.9/km² (1,014.4/mi²). There are 2,622 housing units at an average density of 130.8/km² (338.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 85.95% White, 8.92% African American, 0.56% Native American, 1.27% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.87% from other races, and 2.33% from two or more races. 3.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,569 households out of which 45.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 77.6% are married couples living together, 6.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 13.3% are non-families. 9.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.06 and the average family size is 3.24.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 30.1% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 28.4% from 45 to 64, and 5.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 101.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.4 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $81,769, and the median income for a family is $85,766. Males have a median income of $61,735 versus $37,740 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $29,044. 1.7% of the population and 1.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 2.2% are under the age of 18 and 1.3% are 65 or older.
