Tadanobu Asano (born November 27, 1973) is a charismatic and versatile Japanese actor who has been described by critics as that country's answer to Johnny Depp. He rose to prominence in such films as Nagisa Oshima's Taboo, Takashi Miike's Ichi the Killer, and Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Bright Future. He also appears in Takeshi Kitano's 2003 remake of the blind samurai saga Zatôichi.
