Baudette is a city located in Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,104. It is the county seat of Lake of the Woods County6.

United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.6 km² (3.7 mi²). 8.5 km² (3.3 mi²) of it is land and 1.1 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 11.29% water.

census of 2000, there are 1,104 people, 490 households, and 271 families residing in the city. The population density is 129.2/km² (334.1/mi²). There are 540 housing units at an average density of 63.2/km² (163.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.02% White, 0.54% African American, 2.90% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 1.99% from two or more races. 0.72% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 490 households out of which 28.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.1% are married couples living together, 9.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 44.5% are non-families. 41.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 22.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.16 and the average family size is 2.97. In the city the population is spread out with 24.7% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 24.5% who are 65 years of age or older.
