Beatty Township is a township located in St. Louis County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 434.

Geography

\nAccording to the
United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 207.0 km² (79.9 mi²). 168.9 km² (65.2 mi²) of it is land and 38.1 km² (14.7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 18.41% water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 434 people, 198 households, and 149 families residing in the township. The population density is 2.6/km² (6.7/mi²). There are 681 housing units at an average density of 4.0/km² (10.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.93% White, 0.00% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.92% from other races, and 0.92% from two or more races. 0.46% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 198 households out of which 18.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.7% are married couples living together, 2.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.7% are non-families. 22.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.19 and the average family size is 2.53. In the township the population is spread out with 15.9% under the age of 18, 3.0% from 18 to 24, 17.7% from 25 to 44, 40.8% from 45 to 64, and 22.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 51 years. For every 100 females there are 112.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 113.5 males. The median income for a household in the township is $43,542, and the median income for a family is $57,813. Males have a median income of $42,500 versus $26,786 for females.
