Bedtime for Democracy is a punk rock album played in the eclectic, individualist style of hardcore (in this case often anarchist) punk. It was the last studio album put out by the original line-up of legendary West coast punk band Dead Kennedys. Bearing closer resemblance musically to their own EP In God We Trust, Inc. than other albums, this album is disjointed and inconsistent, but always furious and creative. Displaying the greatest range of lyrical content of any Dead Kennedys work, songs on this album cover such common punk subjects as conformity, Ronald Reagan, the military, and the ubiquitous diatribes criticizing their own punk movement.
