Bergen Township is a township located in McLeod County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 881.

Geography

United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 91.7 km² (35.4 mi²). 91.5 km² (35.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.17% water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 881 people, 297 households, and 237 families residing in the township. The population density is 9.6/km² (24.9/mi²). There are 304 housing units at an average density of 3.3/km² (8.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 96.37% White, 0.00% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.34% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 3.06% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 4.54% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 297 households out of which 41.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.7% are married couples living together, 4.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.9% are non-families. 14.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.97 and the average family size is 3.29. In the township the population is spread out with 29.7% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 122.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 114.2 males.
