At a time when game companies were laying off droves of employees and closing their doors, with Kotick's lead, Activision grouped together key staff, signed on star developers, and brought in Hollywood and Sports celebrities into the art of making and marketing games. In little over a decade, the success of Activision propelled Kotick into the "40 Richest under 40" as published by Fortune in 2002 with an estimated worth of $120.8 million.
