Born Yesterday is a 1950 comedy film which tells the story of a corrupt tycoon who brings his show-girl mistress with him to Washington when he tries to buy a few Congressmen. He hires a history professor to teach his girlfriend a little about history, and in the process, she learns just how corrupt her boyfriend is. It stars Judy Holliday, Broderick Crawford and William Holden.

The movie was adapted by Albert Mannheimer from the play by Garson Kanin. It was directed by George Cukor.

The movie won the Academy Award for Best Actress (Judy Holliday} and was nominated for Best Costume Design, Black-and-White, Best Director, Best Picture and Best Writing, Screenplay.

Born Yesterday was remade in 1993 starring Melanie Griffith, John Goodman and Don Johnson. It was adapted by Douglas McGrath and directed by Luis Mandoki.
