A bride is the female participant in a wedding ceremony (see also marriage). She is typically attended by one or bridesmaids or more maids of honour. Her male partner is the Bridegroom or "groom". Before a bride can be formally called "Wife" or Mrs.(The first name of the Bridegroom), she must finish the formal wedding procedure. In some cultures, a successful sexual intercourses between Bride and Bridegroom is a required step to complete the wedding ceremony.
Bride is also the Scottish name of the goddess Brigid.
