Bridgewater is a town located in Oneida County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,671.

census of 2000, there are 1,671 people, 596 households, and 454 families residing in the town. The population density is 27.1/km² (70.1/mi²). There are 639 housing units at an average density of 10.3 persons/km² (26.8 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.31% White, 0.78% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.78% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races. 1.02% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 596 households out of which 42.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.0% are married couples living together, 10.7% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 23.8% are non-families. 19.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.80 and the average family size is 3.12. In the town the population is spread out with 31.1% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 31.7% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.2% who are 65 years of age or older.
