Carlos Roberto Reina (1926 - 2003) was president of Honduras from 1994 to 1998. Elected in free and fair elections in 1993, he fought corruption and violations of human rights, contributing to make Honduras one of the most stable countries in the region. As constitutionally mandated, he retired after one term. He committed suicide in August 2003 because of his debilitating illnesses.
