Chante Jawan Mallard was an African-American female, from Texas, who was convicted and sentenced to 50 years imprisonment for her role in the death of a homeless male, Gregory Biggs. Biggs died Mallard's car struck him, Mallard was driving while intoxicated by alcohol, The force of the impact sent Biggs flying through the windshield and Mallard left the car in her garage, did not notify the police, and later (after Biggs had died) she left the body in a park. The incident occurred on October 26, 2001; Mallard was convicted in June of 2003. Mallard became a suspect after she was reported talking about "hitting [some] white man". During the trial, Tarrant County Medical Examiner Peerwani testified; that, had Mallard taken Biggs to a hospital, the man would have survived.
