Clarington is a village on the edge of the Ohio River located in Monroe County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 444.

Geography

Clarington is located at 39°46'22" North, 80°52'5" West (39.772655, -80.868008)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²). 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 11.11% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 444 people, 182 households, and 125 families residing in the village. The population density is 153.1/km² (397.3/mi²). There are 209 housing units at an average density of 72.0/km² (187.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 99.10% White, 0.68% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.23% from two or more races. 0.68% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 182 households out of which 28.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% are married couples living together, 12.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.8% are non-families. 23.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 2.89.
