Corte (Corsican Corti) in is a town of approx. 6,000 inhabitants in the Haute-Corse département in central Corsica, in France.
It was the capital of the Corsican independent state during the period of Pascal Paoli. Sites of interest include the Fortress (A citadella), the Museum of Corsica (Museu di a Corsica), and the University of Corsica (Universitŕ di Corsica). National roads lead to Ajaccio and Bastia.
