It employs about 1700 staff at three locations: Chilbolton Observatory, near Stockbridge in Hampshire Daresbury Laboratory. at Daresbury in Lancashire Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, near Abingdon in Oxfordshire Diamond, a new synchrotron light source, is being built on the Rutherford Appleton site.
