A historical novel by Robert Graves published in 1938. Like the more well known works "I, Claudius" and "Claudius the God" by the same author, the book has been written by laying down as much detail as is historically known about Belisarius, and then filling in the gaps with credible fiction. But wheras the books based on Claudius use an autographical style, this work pertains to be a biography written by his manservant, and reads as a great tale of adventure which does justice to the subjects cavilieristic nature.
