The basic premise of the trick is that the magician, using sleight of hand, seems to make balls pass through solid metal as they move between upturned cups sliding around on a table. The trick usually ends with a larger object appearing in place of the balls. Although traditionally cups and balls are used in the trick, the actual objects involved are relatively unimportant to the effect.
