Do the Right Thing is a 1989 film which tells a tale of bigotry and violence in a multi-ethnic community on the hottest day of the year. It stars Danny Aiello, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Richard Edson, Giancarlo Esposito, Spike Lee, Bill Nunn and John Turturro. It was written and directed by Spike Lee.

In 1999 the film was deemed "culturally significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
