Captain Donald MacDonald was a member of Prince Charlie's army. He sailed to Louisbourg in 1758 during the Seven Years War and fought for the English under General James Wolfe. It was Donald MacDonald who fooled the French guards on the St. Lawrence River on the night of September 12, 1759, thus allowing the English to land six 4-ton heavy guns which allowed the English to beat the French at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham.

He is supposedly originally from the Isle of Skye in Scotland, and according to family legend was buried there at the age of 106.
