The title of Duke of Ancaster and Kesteven was created by George I of Great Britain in the Peerage of Great Britain in 1715 for Robert Bertie, 1st Marquess of Lindsey. Its first four holders also held the hereditary office of Lord Great Chamberlain, and it became extinct on the death of the fifth holder in 1809.
