Wilhelm Peter Eduard Simon Rüppell (November 20, 1794 - December 10, 1884) was a German naturalist and explorer.

Rüppell made two expeditions to northern and eastern Africa in the early 19th century, returning with large zoological and entomological collections.

Species bearing his name include Rüppell's Warbler and Rüppell's Vulture
