Eircom, formerly Telecom Eireann, is the national telecommunications operator of Ireland. Included was a fixed-line, an analogue TACS and a digital GSM 900 network operation in Ireland. They also operated a property alarm installation and montioring unit called Eircom Phonewatch. Eircom's mobile business Eircell is now controlled by the Vodafone Group.

As a result of Eircom's public flotation by the Irish Government, and the subsequent Vodafone takeover, thousands of Irish small investors now have small holding in Vodafone.
