Elizabeth Moon, born 1945, March 7, is an American science fiction and fantasy author. She lives in Florence, Texas (near Austin).

She attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant during active service with the US Marine Corps, which she joined in 1968 having obtained a B.A. in History. Later she also obtained a B.A. in Biology.

Her writings contain military themes, though biology, politics and personal relationship issues also feature strongly.
