Galilean invariance is a principle which states that the fundamental laws of physics are the same in all inertial (uniform-velocity) frames of reference.

When this principle is applied to Newtonian mechanics and the laws of electricity and magnetism, one can derive the special theory of relativity, as Einstein did.
