Main Page | See live article | Alphabetical index Gaspar Llamazares (born November 28, 1957) is a Spanish politician. Leader of the leftist coalition Izquierda Unida (IU) since 2001. Member of the Central Commitee of the Communist Party of Spain (PCE). Llamazares was the General Secretary of the PCE in the autonomous community of Asturias and member of Asturias' Parliament between 1988 and 2000. Since 2000 he is a member of the Cortes.
