George Boyd, from a family of nine, was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Predominantly a playwright, Boyd has written in many other genres, including radio, television and motion pictures. In 2000, his play, Consecrated Ground, was nominated for a Governor's-General award for drama.

Other plays include, Shine Boy, Gideon's Blues and Wade In The Water.

Mr. Boyd currently resides in Montreal, where he's busy writing a new play, Rodier.
