Ghettotech is a form of electronic dance music based in Detroit that combines Electro, Hip-hop, Techno, Miami bass, and Ghetto House amongst a peppering of most other dance music styles (Jungle, Drum and Bass, R&B) at fast tempos (around 145 to 170 bpm). It is known for it sometimes pornographic lyrical content, although many tracks aren't explicit and don't have this subject matter.

The Ghettotech style was created by a few DJ's and Producers mostly working in Detroit, with a strong influence from Miami bass and continuing influence from Chicago's Ghetto House. It has existed in Detroit since about 1994.

Some of the Detroit based artists are: DJ Assault, Dj Godfather, Aux 88, Sole Tech, DJ Nasty, Eric Travis, Disco D, Mr. De', Starski & Clutch, Erotek, 313 Bass Mechanics, Detroit In Effect (D.I.E.), DJ Omega, DJ Shortstop, DJ Dick, AJ McGhee, B Calloway, The Detroit Grand Pubahs, Keith Tucker, Aux Men, and the 12 Tech Mob. Some Chicago based Ghetto House producers / DJ's who still play a large part in the Ghettotech scene include DJ Funk, DJ Deeon, DJ Nehpets, Waxmaster, DJ PJ and DJ Slugo.

GhettoTech is usually viewed as a form of Booty Bass influenced especially by Techno.

The spelling and indeed the use of the word "Ghettotech" is contentious. Other spellings include Ghetto Tech, GetoTek, Ghettotec, and other names include Bass, Booty Bass, Tech, Techno Bass and Accelerated Funk.
