A mischievous United States annual award, the Golden Raspberry Award, is awarded for misbegotten contributions in the area of motion picture production, acting, and script writing. A parody of the National Academy (Oscar) Awards, frequent winners include John Travolta and Sylvester Stallone for acting, and many motion pictures which famously flopped. The term "raspberry" is used in its irreverent sense, as in "Bronx cheer".

Some quite distinguished actors, directors and producers have received (no doubt reluctantly) the recognition of a Golden Raspberry.

The "Razzies" are open to the public to adjudicate, not unlike the People's Choice Award.
