Haines Borough is a borough located in the U.S. State of Alaska. As of 2000 the population is 2,392. The borough seat is Haines. Haines is the only incorporated place.

\nThe borough has a total area of 7,060 km² (2,726 mi²). 6,070 km² (2,344 mi²) of it is land and 990 km² (382 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 14.02% water.

The racial makeup of the borough is 82.53% White, 0.13% Black or African American, 11.50% Native American, 0.71% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.42% from other races, and 4.64% from two or more races. 1.38% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 991 households out of which 31.60% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.00% are married couples living together, 7.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.00% are non-families. 27.10% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.20% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
