The History of the English Speaking Peoples was written by Winston Churchill. It is a four-volume history documenting English (as opposed to England's) history from the Norman Conquest to the beginning of World War I.
The fourth volume, titled The Great Democracies, proceeds from the fall of Napoleon to 1914, with an extended treatment of the American Civil War.
