Named for the Shoalhaven River in New South Wales which rises on the Gourock Range and flows into the Tasman Sea at Nowra.

HMAS Shoalhaven (K-535/M-535/F-535) was a Bay class frigate laid down by Walkers Limited at Maryborough in Queensland on 18 December 1943, launched on 14 December 1944 by Senator Dorothy Tangney and commissioned at Urangan Jetty in Hervey Bay in Queensland on 2 May 1946. HMAS Shoalhaven paid off to reserve on 19 December 1955. She was sold to H. C. Sleigh and Company, acting on behalf of Mitsubishi Australia Propriety Limited, in January 1962.
