At least six ships of the Royal Navy have been called HMS Captain.
- HMS Captain, (74) was a 3rd rate ship of the line. She was Admiral Horatio Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Cape St. Vincent on February 14, 1797.
- A later HMS Captain was a masted turret ship of controversial design which was sunk in a gale on September 7, 1870 a few months after commissioning.
