Humphrey B. Bear is an icon of Australian children's television.

Humphrey B Bear was discovered at NWS Channel 9 and made his first appearance on Australian television on Monday, 24th May, 1965. In the early days he was known as Bear Bear and was named Humphrey B Bear as the result of an on air competition. Humphrey has seen his show become one of the most successful programs for pre-schoolers in Australia.

He has won Logies for Best Children's Series and Humphrey has received a number of National Awards and Commendations, including a special "Citizen of the Year" Award at the 1994 Australia Day celebrations. Humphrey has friends all over the world thanks to the USA version of his show shown on PBS in America and the Spanish version shown on Galavision.

Each episode of Humphrey is designed to entertain and educate its audience as they join in the fun with Humphrey B Bear. Humphrey enjoys exploring and pretending. He likes playing, singing, dancing and being with his friends. The essence of the program is in its star that will forever be four years of age and loves every minute of it.

Everyday is a new adventure for Humphrey. An adventure that parallels the needs, fears and fun of the average four year old child. Humphrey Bear explores life as they do, reinforcing their self esteem and showing them it's OK to make mistakes (after all everyone does). We don't always have to be the best at everything, it's more important to simply take part.

The Humphrey series is studio based and set in Humphrey's very own tree house, which of course is right in the middle of the Magic Forest. Humphrey's house is brightly coloured and very magical. In fact just about anything can happen with Humphrey and his friends in the Magic Forest and invariably does.

Humphrey still appears every morning on Australian television, and is a standard aspect of Australian culture. .
