Based in Osaka, Japan, ITOCHU (In Kanji: 伊藤忠) was founded in 1958 by Chubei Ito, it was initially a kimono fabric retail store. Gradually ITOCHU business evolved from pure buying and selling to manufacturing, supplying, exporting and even investment, after separations and merges with other companies it was incorporated in 1949 and it is the largest general trading company (Sogo Shosha) in Japan and ranks among the world’s largest companies with 1,027 subsidiaries and associated companies operating in over 80 countries.
