Jackie Martling is a comedian and comic writer who's greatest fame came from being a part of the Howard Stern Radio Show. He has releases several CDs of his own material, which I think are still available.
His most famous act is quiting the Stern Show. He left because of a financial disagreement with the radio station he and Stern worked for. Jackie himself admitted that the amount of money in dispute was extremely small, despite that he left the show, refusing to sign a deal.
The rumor was that Martling's departure was meant to force the station to cave into his demands, and that Stern would force them to agree, but Stern would not intervene. Utimately a deadline passed and Jackie did not return, so the station stopped negociating and the show began to look for a replacement.
For quite some time no permanent replacement was chosen, instead Stern used the position to bring in comedians that he felt deserved national exposure. Over time though it became clear Stern wanted a fulltime replacement.
A hugh tragedy was narrowly averted by John Melendez (Stuttering John) who egged AJ Benza (call me AJ Benza because I'll benz right over for ya) into punching him. Since AJ resorted to violence he was fired and could never be the person to take over from Jackie Martling. For this one act stuttering John is a true hero to Stern Fans everywhere as AJ Benza is a douchebag who would have ruined the Stern Show.
Jackie Martling has reportedly stopped drinking and smoking pot. He continues to work on his own material. Sadly the it has been reported that his wife has left him.
