He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA, but spent most of his career in the UK and died in London. His best-known part was as King Henry VII in a BBC2 drama series, Shadow of the Tower, which failed to have the same popular success as its predecessor, The Six Wives of Henry VIII.
