He stunned many people by winning the elections without the support of the established old guard politicians. Some Brazilians saw in Quadros what Juscelino Kubitschek was not. They saw a man who was going to continue the economic miracle of Kubitschek but someone who would ensure that most of the population would enjoy the miracle.
