Jeppe Aakjaer (1866 - 1930) was a Danish poet and novel writer. Much of his writings were about Jutland, of which Aaekjaer was from. He was known for his writings that reflected his concern for the poor and downtrodden and for eloquently describing their otherwise humble and simple rural existence. At the age of 20, he was sent to jail for speaking freely about things that concerned him, which the local government officials did not care for.

Aakjaer's notable novels include The Peasant's Son (1899) and Children of Wrath (1904). His poems include Songs of the Rye (1906) and Heimdal's Wanderings (1924).
