John Eager Howard of Maryland (June 4, 1752- October 12, 1827). Governor, State Senator, U. S. Senator, and Hero of Cowpens.

An officer of the Continental Army, Howard fought at White Plains and in the Monmouth campaign. He was awarded a silver medal for his leadership at the battle of Cowpens.

He was born and died in Baltimore, Maryland.

Named for him is Howard County, Maryland.
