John Polkinghorne (1930 - ) is a British scientist and theologian.

After a career in theoretical physics, in his late 40s Polkinghorne began studying for the Anglican ministry at Westcott House, Cambridge, and was ordained in the Church of England. He received a knighthood in 1997, and in 2002 was awarded the Templeton Prize for his contributions to research at the interface between science and religion.
