Kennett is a city located in Dunklin County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 11,260. It is the county seat of Dunklin County6.

The racial makeup of the city is 84.44% White, 13.27% African American, 0.22% Native American, 0.52% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.36% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. 1.79% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 4,540 households out of which 31.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.0% are married couples living together, 15.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.4% are non-families. 28.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.93.
