Main Page | See live article | Alphabetical index Lewis Grassic Gibbon (13 February 1901 - 7 February 1935) is one of Scotland's most famous writers. His real name was James Leslie Mitchell. He was born at Seggat of Auchterless (Aberdeenshire). The trilogy "A Scots Quair" is his most renowned work. The individual parts were Sunset Song (1932), Cloud Howe (1933) and Grey Granite (1934). Today his work is recognised as English language masterpieces; 'Sunset Song' is included in the British National Curriculum.
