Los Lunas is a village located in Valencia County, New Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 10,034. It is the county seat of Valencia County6.

census of 2000, there are 10,034 people, 3,601 households, and 2,689 families residing in the village. The population density is 385.5/km² (998.8/mi²). There are 3,845 housing units at an average density of 147.7/km² (382.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 64.14% White, 1.16% African American, 2.62% Native American, 0.50% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 27.63% from other races, and 3.90% from two or more races. 58.74% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 3,601 households out of which 41.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.8% are married couples living together, 16.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.3% are non-families. 20.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.75 and the average family size is 3.16. In the village the population is spread out with 31.1% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 95.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.1 males. The median income for a household in the village is $36,240, and the median income for a family is $37,255. Males have a median income of $30,664 versus $22,437 for females. The per capita income for the village is $14,692. 13.5% of the population and 11.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 18.3% are under the age of 18 and 7.3% are 65 or older.
