In computing, Mail List Manager is software to manage the operation of e-mail lists. These can be discussion lists, newsletters, moderated lists, and other specialized types.

Several examples are Ezmlm, Majordomo, Liststar, Mailman, Tinylist, Mojomail; there are several others.

Features, methods of management, and ease of use vary widely. Some operate entirely by e-mail, others use web pages and scripts to accomplish management.

Some are compiled, (usually in C), some use interpeted scripts- these usually are in perl, with a recently growing number in Python. An informal survey indicates interpeted scripts are more commom, usually either in perl or more recently, in python.

There are MANY licensing arrangements used, although several are available under the Gnu General Public License (GNU GPL).
