Malone is a village located in Franklin County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 6,075.

census of 2000, there are 6,075 people, 2,583 households, and 1,511 families residing in the village. The population density is 742.3/km² (1,920.0/mi²). There are 2,847 housing units at an average density of 347.9 persons/km² (899.8 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.58% White, 0.49% African American, 0.46% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.44% from other races, and 0.51% from two or more races. 1.05% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,583 households out of which 28.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 38.6% are married couples living together, 15.2% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 41.5% are non-families. 36.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.24 and the average family size is 2.86. In the village the population is spread out with 23.0% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 20.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 81.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 76.9 males.
