Manuel Patarroyo (full name Manuel Elkin Patarroyo) is a Colombian pathologist that is currently attempting to come up with a vaccine for malaria, a disease transmitted by insects that affects millions of people in the Third World every year. His research has recently come under scrutiny as his vaccine has performed less than ideally in clinical tests.

Presently, he is continuing work on the vaccine at the Instituto Nacional de Inmunologia based in the Hospital San Juan de Dios in Bogota, Colombia.
