Main Page | See live article | Alphabetical index Maurice Noble was born in 1910 and began working for the Hollywood animation industry in 1931. He worked at the Walt Disney studio until World War II. Around 1953, he resurfaced at Warner Brothers Cartoons, crafting lavishly stylized layouts for Chuck Jones, most notably in What's Opera, Doc. In 1961, he was promoted to co-director and continued to produce bold designs for films such as Martian Thru Georgia and Now Hear This. He followed Chuck Jones to M-G-M in 1963; there, he worked on many Tom and Jerry shorts, plus How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Semi-retired after 1970, he joined Chuck Jones Film Productions for credit as art director or color consultant in 1994 to 1997 releases such as Chariots of Fur and Pullet Surprise.
